In celebration of the historic Royal Wedding of His Majesty the King Jigme Khesar Wangchuck and Her Majesty the Queen Ashi Jetsun Pema on 13th of Oct 2011, in the Year of the female Iron Rabbit, The Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan is honoured to issue the Royal Wedding Commemorative Nu.100 Note.
His Majesty the King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, born on February 21, 1980, completed his formal schooling in Bhutan, followed by Philips Academy in the US, the Magdalen College at Oxford University and National Defense College in India. His Majesty took the helm of the Dragon Kingdom on December 14, 2006.
Her Majesty the Queen Jetsun Pema, was born in Thimphu, Bhutan on June 4, 1990. She is second eldest among five children. Her father Dhondup Gyaltshen from Trashigang and is the grandson of Trashigang Dzongpon (Former Governor of Trashigang) and her mother, Sonam Chuki, from Bumthang Pangtey, is God-daughter of HRH Price Namgyel Wangchuck.
